GILBERT GONZALEZ, JR.CA. Growing up, Gilbert's flair for performing led him to compete in many talent shows, as well as even produce, choreograph, direct, and star in his own independent showcases.
During season 5 of Fox's hit show American Idol, Gilbert auditioned and competed and placed in the California top 35 out of over 10,000 other singers. Following his success with Idol, Gilbert was offered and took a job at Wild 94.9FM KYLD: Northern California's #1 Music Station and became their On Air Radio Personality and Correspondent for all things Pop Culture and, of course, American Idol! In the summer of 2010, Gilbert competed in the World Championships Of Performing Arts and walked away a 5 time Silver Medalist in the categories of Singing, Acting, and Dance and was even chosen to compete in the Semi-Finals of the event representing America. Gilbert has also appeared on such television shows as "The Talk" on CBS, "The Bad Girls Club" on Oxygen, and even stars in his first national commercial currently on rotation for Kashi cereal. Although Gilbert has joined the team of Makin' It as a Story Developer and Actor, he is also a seasoned Sign Language interpreter and teacher, and is currently recording his first music album. Gilbert's two favorite motto's in life are, "It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.", and "Be yourself! Everyone else is already taken.". Gilbert is both amazed and humbled to be working with such a talented and diverse group of people on Makin' It! "I love how comfortable we have become at expressing ourselves and playing off each other's ideas. The imagination machine is ALIVE! Plus, I am excited to both work on and see a show that celebrates the power of a dream, the necessary struggle within a craft, and the sweet reward of faith and determination."
